FAQs
Do I need a prescription or physician's referral?
No, you don't need a prescription to see us at Revive Physical Therapy. Connecticut is a direct access state meaning you can go to any Physical Therapist without a prescription and be seen! You can call to make an appointment right now!
What can I expect from my evaluation?
Our goal is to determine the root cause of the problem and work as a team to resolve your issue. You will receive one-on-one evaluation with one of our skilled clinicians and an individualized treatment plan to improve your pain and return to the activities you love.
Do you take insurance?
Did you know that physical therapy for TMJ treatment is rarely covered by your insurance? Let's say you call a clinic that does take your insurance and they do treat TMJ. Awesome! But more than likely, the physical therapist you will see will have to code your case as neck pain or headaches and only treat you for that. So you might get a few jaw exercises and a load of neck or postural exercises. This may help your pain, but it also may not! At Revive Physical Therapy, we don't work with insurance companies because we want to be able to treat and help you fix the reason why you are seeing us and that might mean actually working on your jaw!
What is the treatment length?
Physical Therapy requires some work and isn't a "quick" fix. Many people feel relief within the first few weeks. However, our goal is to make you stronger and more resilient to prevent re-injury or reoccurrence. So, we often work with our clients for a period of time after they start to feel better so they never have to come see us again.
We can't predict exactly what your treatment plan will look like or what you will need because everyone is different. However, every patient is taught self-treatment techniques, activity modification strategies and corrective exercises that are personalized to you so you have all the tools you need to maintain your progress and pain free status.
